A unique and exotic journey into nature and wilderness that takes you through 3 ecosystems – Kakamega Forest Natural Reserve, a remnant of the ancient Guineo-Congolian Rainforest, Mt. Elgon National Reserve also known as 'Elephants Den' due to its unique ecosystem and the Maasai Mara as the '8th wonder of the world'. Additionally you enjoy an agricultural rendezvous at the tea plantations of Kericho and go through a tea processing journey and tasting!

Detailed Itinerary

Arrival Day Nairobi

We are happy to book for you accommodation in Nairobi in case your flight does not allow you to depart for the safari adventure directly from the airport. In this case we need you to advise us in advance.

Day 1 Great RIft Valley
Accommodation: The Boma Hotel

On arrival at the airport you will be met and assisted by us. You will be introduced to your safari driver/guide after a short briefing and depart to drive to Eldoret town (315 km - 5 hrs). You will make a brief stopover at the Rift Valley view point and enjoy the magnificent views of the Great Rift Valley. In Eldoret you will check-in at the Boma Hotel.

Day 2 Saiwa Swamp National Park
Accommodation: Nyati Capmsite

In the morning you depart Eldoret town and drive to Saiwa Swamp National Park. Saiwa Swamp is the habitat of the rare and endangered semi-aquatic 'Sitatunga Antelope'. Saiwa Swamp is a veritable haven for nature lovers, a forested paradise filled with exotic flowers, trees and birds. Within this tropical wetlands and mosaic riverine forest bird life is abundant. Lunch is picnic. Afternoon departure to Mt. Elgon National Park, enjoying game viewing en route to your campsite.

Day 3 Mt. Elgon
Accommodation: Nyati Capmsite

Mt. Elgon is often referred to as the 'Elephnants Den' due to its unique ecosystem and the high fertility rate in this species at this location. The elephants here thrive on healthy reproduction that is unmatched anywhere else in East Africa. Mt. Elgon is "untamed wilderness and secluded splendor!" Spend the full day in this park biking, game viewing, hiking, mountain climbing and even rock climbing - a busy and interesting day! Late evening relaxation at your campsite around a bonfire sharing the excitement!

Day 4 Kakmega Forest National Reserve
Accommodation: Rondo Retreat Lodge

Depart Mt. Elgon in the morning and drive to Kakamega Forest National Reserve. It is a hidden and least talked about treasure - a remnat of the Guineo-Congolian Rainforest which expands into West Africa. It is 'the canopy of natural beauty' and home to various mammals, birds, snakes and trees! After lunch you will visit a unique rock formation - 'the crying stone'. This unique stone have a continuous flow of water from the top flowing down and is surrounded by numerous myths and beliefs of the community. Enjoy!

Day 5 Kakamega Forest National Reserve
Accommodation: Rondo Retreat Lodge

Spend the full day in this natural beauty enjoying bird watching, game viewing, hiking, rock climbing, and scenic views from the forest. In the evening you return to your lodge and relax taking in the beauty of the day.

Day 6 Kericho
Accommodation: Kerich Tea Hotel

Depart Kakamega and drive to Kericho. Kericho is the center of the main tea plantations and processing in Kenya. Kericho is also home to Kenya's biggest water catchment area the mau forest. Arrive for lunch at the Kericho Tea Hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy an extensive tour of one of the tea factories and go through a detailed tour of tea processing! Tea tasting is an exciting experience to get to know the different tastes for tea. At 04:00 pm you enjoy your tea & snacks in this lush green sun as you watch the sun set.

Day 7 Lake Naivasha
Accommodation: Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge

Depart Kericho and drive to Lake Naivasha - a beautiful fresh water lake fringed with thick papyrus plants. The lake and its surroundings are rich in natural bounty. The forest abounds with birdlife which makes it the best birding destination. Wild games like giraffes, buffaloes, colobus monkeys, etc. are drawn by the lake. Hippo populations sleep the day away in the lake waters. Enjoy game drives/walks and cycling/hiking (when and if possible) at Hells Gate National Park. Check-in at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, a beauty walk at the lake would be exciting - including a boat ride (optional at an extra cost).

Day 8 Maasai Mara
Accommodation: Ashnil Mara Camp

Depart Lake Naivasha and drive to the open grasslands of Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The great wildebeest migration takes place in this park every year between July and October, which makes it the '8th wonder of the world'. Moreover, Maasai Mara has the highest lion density in the world. Check-in at Ashnil Mara Camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon, depart for an afternoon game drive till sunset.

Day 9 Maasai Mara
Accommodation: Ashnil Mara Camp

Spend the day in Maasai Mara with game drives and an afternoon visit a Maasai village - experiencing this unique culture that not even the Western world has been able to influence.
